Position Description
Applicants are expected to be an active participant in the clinical activities of the Department of Family Medicine with a sports medicine focus. They are expected to participate in the teaching mission of the Department, especially as it relates to their clinical work and expertise. The Full-Time Effort (FTE) represents clinical scheduled time and administrative/teaching time. The clinic scheduled time represents 1.0 of the total FTE.
Applicants will be active participant in the UW Medical Center-Northwest Sports Medicine outpatient clinic practice sites or other clinical site of the Department of Family Medicine. The clinical duties will include a mixed practice of direct patient care of primary care and sports medicine patients for eight half-day clinics per week, as well as teaching, mentoring, and advising residents, fellows, medical students, and undergraduates. The specified clinical activities will always be contingent on availability of space. Applicants will be expected to participate in the full spectrum of clinical practice including procedural and diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound. We expect that you will develop on-going opportunities with club and other athletes in the community, participate in clinical research and support the training of a new generation of family physician and primary care sports medicine physicians.
The service period for this position is July 1-June 30. There is one open position. The anticipated start date is September 1.
Qualifications
Applicants are required to have an MD, DO, or foreign equivalent with current certification by the American Board of Family Medicine, and 5 years’ experience in primary care practice. Completion of a Sports Medicine fellowship or equivalent with a CAQ in Sports Medicine or are or CAQ eligible.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduate of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Recent direct practice-based patient care experience in full spectrum family medicine is strongly preferred.
License or license eligible in Washington State
