Position Description

The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Department of Surgery at the University of Washington School of Medicine, invite applications for two fellow positions in the Cardiovascular (CV Advanced Practice Provider (APP) One-Year Fellowship program. This position will provide a faculty appointment at the rank of Teaching Associate, on a twelve-month service period, with an anticipated start date of November 2nd, 2020.

Fellowship Duties and Responsibilities:

Fellows will actively participant in clinical care and teaching in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, and will be expected to be self-motivated and a strong collaborator with our team of care providers to achieve high-quality patient outcomes for cardiovascular patients. 

Fellows will rotate through every clinical service in Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Vascular Surgery at the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC) Montlake campus. Fellows will spend two to four weeks on each service and will function as an APP providing clinical services such as bronchoscopies, central line insertion, and Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) interrogations.

Duties will include inpatient care management that will include day and occasional weekend in-hospital coverage. This position will equally share call coverage with other advanced practice providers in the CV team. This position will collaborate with the APP and physician faculty to address clinical issues within the scope of your practice and will partner with them to communicate with patients, referring providers and fellow clinicians.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Current and valid state Registered Nurse Licensure for ARNP or Physician Assistant licensure for PA-C
  2. Graduate Degree from and accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or accredited Physician Assistant Program
  3. Nationally certified ARNP/PA with DEA
  4. Proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment
  5. Effective interpersonal skills
  6. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  7. Basic computer knowledge and command of basic personal computer skills
