Position Description

The University of Washington Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology is recruiting a full-time faculty member for appointment at the Assistant Professor rank (without tenure due to funding), on the clinician/scholar pathway, with an annual service period of 12 months (July 1-June 30). These positions would be based at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, one of the three major teaching hospitals of the University of Washington.  The selected candidates would see patients, teach, and build a related research program.  Potential areas of research focus include hemostasis/thrombosis, geriatric hematology, palliative care, culturally tailored medicine, vascular biology, or cost effectiveness studies. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. Position will remain open until filled. Anticipated start date is January 2021.

Qualifications

The selected candidate must have:

  • MD  (or foreign equivalent). For MD candidates, in order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.  Board certification in Hematology (or foreign equivalent) would also be required.
  • Subspecialty training in Hematology or Hematology/Oncology
