Position Description

The Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Washington offers a Clinical Fellowship in Cerebrovascular and Skull Base Surgery. The Cerebrovascular and Skull Base Fellow is appointed as an Acting Instructor in the Department of Neurological Surgery. The fellowship will be under the supervision of Professor Laligam N. Sekhar and Associate Professor Manuel Ferreira Jr., and will provide training in microsurgery and endoscopic surgery, and opportunity for research. It does not include any Endovascular training.

The anticipated started date for this position is July 1, 2022. This is a 12 month service period position per year.

Qualifications

This fellowship is open to Neurosurgeons (MD or MD/PhD) who have completed a residency in an approved Neurosurgical program accredited by the ACGME (Accredited Council for Graduate Medical Education), the RCPSC (Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada), or the CFPC (College of Family Physicians Canada). Additionally, they must be able to obtain an unrestricted license to practice Medicine in the State of Washington. A strong interest in pursuing academic neurosurgery, and a track record of research and/or publications is a requirement to be considered for this position. All University of Washington faculty participate in teaching, research, and service.

An H-1B visa is required for all graduates of Canadian medical schools. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship of an H-1B visa, graduates of Canadian medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
