Division Head, Gastroenterology

The Department of Medicine at the University of Washington (UW) is recruiting a new Head for the Division of Gastroenterology. The Division at UW has a long tradition of excellence in basic and clinical research, education and patient care.  It has over 50 paid faculty across 6 sites, more than 30 staff and over $5 million in direct research grants and contracts. Its liver transplant program is prominent with 116 liver transplants last year.  Established programs such as the Center for Microbiome Sciences & Therapeutics, and the GI Biorepository & Registry exemplify the Division’s commitment to basic and clinical research. This position will be expected to demonstrate leadership and maintain a program of clinical, outcomes or basic research.

Appointment to the full-time faculty would be at the rank of associate or full professor with tenure. This position would have an annual service period of 12 months [July 1-June 30]. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.  Applications are accepted until the position is filled. The anticipated start date would be September 2020.

Qualifications

Candidates should have an MD (or foreign equivalent) and board certification in Gastroenterology (or foreign equivalent). In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
