Overview
CMAP is a Center of Excellence in Genome Science. Our Center is developing highly generalizable, reproducible and scalable technologies to generate and assess the functional impact of variants in human genes. Our goal is to facilitate variant interpretation to enable genome-guided precision medicine in clinical decision making.

Position Description
The Center for the Multiplex Assessment of Phenotype (CMAP) is accepting applications for two full-time “CMAP Postdoctoral Scholar” positions starting in 2020.

Linking phenotype to genotype is one of the most pressing problems in biology. We are looking for near or recent grads to work on high-risk, high-reward methods development projects that will drive the mutational scanning field forward. This is a unique opportunity to work at the cutting edge of genomics and proteomics with a team of creative and talented scientists.

This position is designed to prepare trainees for research careers in acquiring and interpreting genomic data for use in biomedical research.

Potential projects include computational and molecular methods development involving:

● Next generation sequencing

● Deep mutational scanning (DMS)

● Massively parallel reporter assays (MPRA)

● Generation of allelic series

● Genome editing and engineering

● Microscope-Assisted Visuospatial Sorting

● Proteomic approaches

● Variant effect prediction algorithms

● Repeat sequence genotyping

● Post-translational modification analysis

● Saturation Genome Editing (SGE)

● Variant library creation

● Cell differentiation assays

● Single cell – single variant transcriptomics

● Variant proteomics

Qualifications

● PhD, MD (or foreign equivalent)

● 1-2 year commitment

● Excellent organization, writing, presentation and communication skills

● Strong work ethic and attention to detail.

● Ability to work as part of a team

This position is open to international applicants as well as citizens and permanent residents of the United States and Canada. We can sponsor individuals for a J-1 visa, if required.

 

Postdoctoral Scholars are represented by UAW 4121 and are subject to the collective bargaining agreement, unless agreed exclusion criteria apply.
