Position Description

The Division of Pediatric Rheumatology, of the Department of Pediatrics, at the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s Hospital are seeking a candidate for a full time position at the level of Assistant Professor, (without tenure by reason of funding), Associate Professor, (without tenure by reason of funding) or full Professor, (without tenure by reason of funding) on the clinician-educator track.  Rank is commensurate with experience.  This is a 12-month service period.  Anticipated start date is Summer 2020.

The successful candidate will serve as Director of the Juvenile Myositis Center of Excellence and will spend 50% time directing the clinical, educational, and research programs associated with the Juvenile Myositis Center of Excellence.

The faculty member will engage in pediatric rheumatology clinical care in the outpatient, inpatient, and outreach settings, as well as immunosuppressive medication management and intraarticular aspirations/injections. 

The Division of Pediatric Rheumatology at Seattle Children’s Hospital and Research Institute and the University of Washington, is world-renowned as one of the oldest programs in the world and is the largest in the United States – with 11 physicians and 5 nurses that serve the states of Washington, Alaska, Idaho and Montana. Our diverse population of patients come primarily from these states, and represents a wide range of ethnicities and backgrounds as well as unique and rare diseases. The Division has an active research program at the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s Research Institute with a focus on autoimmune diseases, and collaborates closely with the Benaroya Research Institute, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and the Seattle area biotech industry. In addition to investigator-initiated studies, the division is actively involved in the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA) projects, is a member of Pediatric Rheumatology Collaborative Research Group (PRCSG) and participates in pharmaceutical clinical trials. The division has an outstanding fellowship training program which has been supported by an NIH T32 for decades. 

University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. 

Qualifications

Interested applicants must be board certified/eligible in Pediatric Rheumatology.  MD, DO or MD/DO combination (or foreign equivalent) required.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
