Position Description

The Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine is seeking a full-time orthopaedic oncologist who will be responsible for surgical management of primary and metastatic tumors of bone and soft tissue, as well as prosthetic and allograft joint and limb reconstructions. The successful applicant will be expected to perform joint replacement surgery of the hip and knee in patients of all ages, adolescent to elderly. This position will be based at Seattle Children’s Hospital (SCH) and include practice at the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC) and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), location of the world-renowned Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Appointment will be at the Assistant Professor level (without tenure for reasons of funding). This position includes an academic appointment in the Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide excellent patient care and teaching, care for children and adults, while taking orthopaedic call and be expected to establish a clinical or basic science research program. The service period for this position is 12 months. The anticipated start date for this position is Summer or Fall 2020. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. Professorial duties include teaching and research.

Qualifications

Applicants must have an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent), be board certified (or board eligible) in Orthopaedic Surgery and be fellowship trained in musculoskeletal tumor surgery.

 In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Candidates must also be eligible to obtain a full Washington State Medical License.
