Position Description

The Community, Environment, and Planning (CEP) undergraduate major in the Department of Urban Design & Planning at the University of Washington is seeking an affiliate instructor for the CEP 446 Internship Practicum to be offered in Spring 2020 and Autumn 2020. 

 

The CEP 446 Internship Practicum is an internship reflection course that explores self-awareness of strengths, professional skill development, and long-term goal setting to lay a foundation for students’ beginning steps in their life after college. Students are required to obtain a 130-hour (minimum) internship to enter the course. This is a 5-credit course that meets weekly for 1.5 hours and is offered for credit/no-credit only.

 

The affiliate instructor for this course is responsible for shaping the course, teaching classes, and assessing student work. It is expected that the affiliate instructor will offer office hours for students to meet outside of the regularly scheduled class time.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or commensurate work experience in a relevant field
  • 2 or more years working in adult training/education or student affairs/services
  • 2 or more years of managerial experience or commensurate work experience
  • Experience with professional skill development and goal setting
  • Demonstrated experience as a facilitator

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced training in Urban Planning, Education, Public Administration, Human Resources, or other related field
  • Knowledge of University student support and academic services
  • Knowledge of UW policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion as outlined in CEP’s Strategic Equity Plan
  • Ability to flex communication style to multiple cultural environments
