Position Description

The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Department of Surgery at the University of Washington School of Medicine is recruiting for a full-time, 12 month service period, non-tenure track General Thoracic Surgeon faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank.  The salary is commensurate with training, qualifications, and experience, with an expected start date in summer 2020.

This position will perform general thoracic surgery procedures, including but not limited to lung transplantation. The thoracic surgeon will also be responsible for teaching and training of residents and medical students, as well as participation in thoracic oncology and clinical and/or basic science research. 

The primary site of practice for this position is the University of Washington Medical Center. Patient care will also be provided at or coordinated with Harborview Medical Center, Northwest Hospital and Medical Center, and the Veteran’s Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System.

Qualifications

Prospective candidates must have an MD degree (or foreign equivalent) and be American Board of Thoracic Surgery qualified (or foreign equivalent) as of July 1, 2020. 

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
