Position Description

The Division of Adolescent Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics, in partnership with Seattle Children’s Hospital, is seeking a pediatric adolescent medicine specialist to join our vibrant and growing division as a Gender Clinic Director. This is a full-time appointment in the School of Medicine at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, (without tenure by reason of funding) commensurate with experience on the clinician educator track. Anticipated start date is July 1, 2020.

The successful individual will join a well-established Division of 12 Adolescent Medicine faculty members and a multidisciplinary team of over 50 staff and faculty. The Division consists of a diverse group of adolescent health experts who value the excellence that comes from diversity, fostering a climate of inclusion and collaboration, and innovation. We approach our work with joy and humility, engaging in community partnerships, striving for social justice, addressing the unique and evolving needs of every adolescent and young adult.

Particular strengths of the Division include an outstanding fellowship program, a Maternal and Child Health Bureau-funded Leadership Education in Adolescent Health (LEAH) training, and an active research program. Clinical programs include hospital inpatient consultation; outpatient behavioral health, eating disorders, gender, biofeedback, and reproductive health; and regional clinics, including those for homeless youth and incarcerated youth.

This position will lead our growing, multidisciplinary Gender Clinic in collaboration with Endocrinology faculty. The clinic team includes adolescent medicine, endocrinology, psychiatry, nursing, APPs, and social work. The Gender Clinic Director will be expected to provide care based on most current research and tailor treatments to meet specific patient and family needs.

All UW faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

Qualifications

Interested applicants must be a board certified or eligible pediatric adolescent medicine specialist. MD or DO (or foreign equivalent) required.

Experience providing care to children, adolescents, and young adults whose gender identity is different from their assigned birth is also required.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or foreign equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services
