Position Description

The Division of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (AID) in the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington is seeking applicants for a Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control/Associate Medical Director at the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC).  The successful candidate would be appointed as a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant, Associate or full Professor, without tenure for reasons of funding (WOT), commensurate with experience. This position has an annual service period of 12 months (July 1-June 30) and is anticipated to start in July 2020.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the oversight of implementing the overall infection prevention and control plan for the hospital’s two campuses (UWMC Montlake and Northwest). In addition, the Medical Director will actively lead the integrated UWMC Infection Prevention program's efforts to reduce hospital-acquired infections and work closely with the administrative manager of the Infection Prevention and Control group. This position will also provide direct oversight of the medical directors of antimicrobial stewardship at UWMC Montlake and Northwest. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold an MD degree (or foreign equivalent) and be board eligible/ board certified in Infectious Diseases (or foreign equivalent). Successful candidates must demonstrate documented expertise in infection prevention and control, and scholarly research in topics including, but not limited to: quality improvement, patient safety, antimicrobial stewardship, and/or infection prevention and control related fields.
