Position Description

The University of Washington, School of Social Work invites nominations and applications for one Assistant Professor tenure track position, effective September 1, 2020.  This is a full-time position, with a 9-month service period, September 16 through June 15 annually. While this search is open to candidates with various research foci, we are particularly interested in research focusing on clinical social work practice with children and youth and/or adults. We encourage applications from both recent graduates and early career assistant professors within 3 – 5 years of receiving their doctorate.

Responsibilities:

Tenure track faculty are expected to have a productive research trajectory with a commitment to exemplary scholarship, high quality publications, and preparation of fundable research proposals. Tenure track faculty participate in shared governance of the School and serve on committees that implement the School’s vision across curricular, research and community activities. As a program with a core mission of social justice and a deeply diverse student body, successful candidates will actuate a commitment to work in marginalized communities and with students holding a range of worldviews.

Qualifications

An MSW with at least two years of full-time social work direct or clinical practice experience is required. All candidates must have a PHD or foreign equivalent in Social Work or an appropriate social or health science discipline.

Candidates should have the ability to teach at the BASW, MSW and PhD levels. We seek talented and innovative scholars who evidence documented expertise in bringing depth and experience in clinical/direct practice and culturally responsive research. We seek productive and creative colleagues who display knowledge in bringing fresh perspectives and depth to the science of social work, incorporate inter-professional and trans-disciplinary perspectives, and who are drawn to work in a faculty focused on many of the Grand Challenges that have been identified in the profession.
