Position Description

The University of Washington, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Rheumatology and Seattle Children’s Hospital are seeking candidates for two full time positions at the level of Assistant Professor, without tenure, on the clinician-educator track. This is a 12-month service period.  Anticipated start date is Summer 2020.

The successful candidate will engage in pediatric rheumatology clinical care in the outpatient, inpatient, and outreach settings, as well as immunosuppressive medication management and intraarticular injections. 

The Division of Pediatric Rheumatology at Seattle Children’s Hospital and Research Institute and the University of Washington are world-renowned as one of the oldest programs in the world and is the largest in the United States – with 11 physicians and 5 nurses that serve the states of Washington, Alaska, Idaho and Montana. Our very diverse population of patients come primarily from these states, and represent a wide range of ethnicities and backgrounds, as well as unique and rare diseases. The Division has an active research program at the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s Research Institute with a focus on immunological and auto-immune diseases, and collaborates closely with the Benaroya Research Institute, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and the Seattle area biotech industry. In addition to investigator-initiated studies, the division is actively involved in the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA) projects, is a member of Pediatric Rheumatology Collaborative Research Group (PRCSG) and participates in pharmaceutical clinical trials. The division has an outstanding fellowship training program which has been supported by an NIH T32 for decades.

MD/DO or foreign equivalent required. Board certified/eligible in Pediatric Rheumatology 

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
