Position Description

The University of Washington School of Medicine and Seattle Children’s Hospital are seeking an outstanding research scientist to join an established program in Mitochondrial Medicine in the Department of Neurology, Division of Pediatric Neurology.   This is a full-time (12 month) academic appointment at the Assistant Professor rank, clinician-scientist pathway with an anticipated start date of December 1, 2019.  This position is without tenure for reasons due to funding. This position will lead a laboratory research program focused on mitochondrial disease, and will be sited at the Seattle Children’s Research Institute. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. 

Qualifications

Minimum requirements include a PhD, MD, or DO (or foreign equivalent) with a track record of research in the area of mitochondrial function, neurodegenerative disorders, or neurogenetics. An MD/PhD in this area is also acceptable. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Physician applicants must show eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Washington, and certification or eligibility for certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Neurology or an equivalent subspecialty board.
