Position Details
Position Description
The University of Washington, Department of Pediatrics, Division of General Pediatrics and Seattle Children’s Hospital invites applications for a clinical practice faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Clinical Practice. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a twelve-month full-time basis for a term of 3 years beginning Winter 2026/Spring 2027 at .8-1.0 FTE.
This position will provide clinical service and consultation at the Seattle Children’s Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic (OBCC), supervision and didactic education of trainees. OBCC has multiple locations and includes Seattle’s Othello neighborhood, multiple school-based health sites and a clinic in the heart of Seattle’s Central District. OBCC is named after Odessa Brown (1920-1969), a Black woman who was a fierce advocate for health and racial equity in Seattle. OBCC serves as a comprehensive health home with medical, dental, mental health, nutrition early childhood development workers, community mental health workers, social work and community care coordinators. More than that, OBCC is a cornerstone and trusted partner of Seattle’s Black community and other communities of color. The multidisciplinary team works together to keep Odessa Brown’s dream of “quality healthcare with dignity” alive in our Seattle community.
The successful candidate will develop and maintain a robust primary care pediatric practice drawn from a diverse population of primarily low-income, socially vulnerable and often non-English speaking children and families. A substantial proportion is also medically complex and will need care coordination in a mature medical home environment. Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, near-native fluency in at least one other language. Position includes some Saturday and holiday coverage and pager call.
