Position Description

The Division of Pediatrics at the University of Washington invites applications for up to four faculty positions at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or full Professor, with an anticipated start date of August 1 2027. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidates will join our faculty on a full-time basis for a twelve-month appointment (Assistant Professors are eligible for a 3-year term eligible for renewal beginning July 1, 2030).

Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Associate and full Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

As the second largest Department in the UW School of Medicine, Pediatrics has twenty-one clinical divisions with approximately 1,400 academic appointments, including approximately 650 paid faculty members, 134 residents, 70 ACGME fellows, 230 staff employees and over 600 volunteer/affiliate faculty and continues to grow each year. The Department of Pediatrics is a close affiliate of Seattle Children's Hospital (SCH) and Seattle Children's Research Institute (SCRI). Faculty members appointed in the Department are located at various institutions (including Seattle Children’s, UW Medicine, and FHCC), and are part of the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) clinical practice plan. 

 The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following responsibilities:

  • Clinical care across outpatient, inpatient, and procedural sites of Seattle Children's Hospital
  • Teaching/Education across above sites and at the University of Washington School of Medicine
  • Scholarship

Candidates will be considered across a range of interests in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition

The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professor range: $18,630 - $21,354 per month ($223,560 - $256,248 annually), Associate Professor range: $22,575 - $26,365 per month ($270,900 - $316,380 annually), Professor range: $27,875 - $32,552 per month ($334,500 - $390,624 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through Children’s University Medical Group practice plan.

Additional administrative responsibilities may be offered to a specific candidate with appropriate experience and qualifications which may result in an administrative duty supplement (ADS). 

All University of Washington faculty are expected to engage in teaching, research, and service.

Qualifications

Applicants for this position must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Earned an MD or DO (or foreign equivalent).
  • Board eligible or board certified in Pediatric Gastroenterology Must be currently licensed as a physician and eligible for licensure as a physician in the State of Washington.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all 3 steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services
