Position Description

The School of Art + Art History + Design at the University of Washington, Seattle is seeking a Full-Time Temporary Lecturer in the Painting, Drawing and Printmaking program to teach a total of six (6) undergraduate courses for the 2026-27 Academic year, beginning September 16, 2026 and ending June 15, 2027. The salary range is $59,000-61,000, and the position is a 100% FTE (full-time) position

 

The successful candidate will teach 2 courses each quarter, during the Autumn, Winter and Spring quarters. Undergraduate courses will primarily include Painting and Drawing courses at Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced levels with opportunities to integrate Printmaking into scheduled classes. The candidate will also participate in Painting graduate student reviews. The successful applicant will have access to the UW Painting and Drawing Sand Point studio facility, and, in return for service to the school (as decided by the program and division chairs), including use of an individual studio. The position also includes an exhibition at the UW Sand Point Gallery.

Qualifications

The applicant should have an MFA or the foreign equivalent in areas involving painting, drawing and/or printmaking, an active research practice, and college-level teaching experience. Candidates whose research, practice and pedagogy directly address the historically complex, culturally rich, and critically broad framework of painting, drawing and printmaking are especially encouraged to apply.

·       Statement of teaching philosophy

·       15 images of student work at all levels (individual image guidelines : 72 dpi, 1200px on the longest side)
