The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington (UW) are jointly recruiting a full-time faculty member at the Associate Professor or Professor level without tenure due to funding (WOT), in the Clinical Research Division of the Fred Hutch and the Division of Hematology and Oncology, Department of Medicine at the UW. The primary appointment will be in the Clinical Research Division of Fred Hutch. Specific rank at the UW will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW’s Faculty Code Section 24-34. Associate and full professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

The selected individual for the advertised position is expected to contribute to our mission of delivering outstanding clinical care and developing excellence in clinical research in gastrointestinal oncology. All clinical and translational research experiences and interests will be considered, and expertise and focus on gastrointestinal malignancies is highly desirable. Fred Hutch and University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. Teaching responsibilities will involve oversight of advanced practice providers and fellows during inpatient and outpatient rotations, and delivery of informal teaching sessions and formal lectures to providers and the general medical community. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community.

Faculty are expected to perform their primary activities on-site at Fred Hutch.

This position is paid directly by Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and receives no UW compensation.  Please refer to Fred Hutch for information about compensation for this position.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have a record of and primary interest in gastrointestinal malignancies, as well as an active clinical research interest, as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications, in the application of endoscopic and other modalities to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of GI cancers.   

Applicants must have an MD/DO degree (or foreign equivalent), board certification in Medical Oncology or Hematology/Oncology (or foreign equivalent), and must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington.

Applicants should articulate how their past experiences and/or future plans in research, teaching, mentoring, patient care, and/or service promote a sense of belonging and foster a welcoming and inclusive environment.

 

Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for postdoctoral positions at Fred Hutch.
