Position Description

The Division of Transplant Surgery Department of Surgery at the University of Washington School of Medicine is accepting applications for a full-time Transplant surgeon faculty position at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor ranks, without tenure (WOT) by reason of funding. Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Associate Professors WOT and Professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. This position will have an anticipated start date in Summer/Fall 2026.

The position will be primarily based at UW Medical Center – Montlake and the successful candidate will participate in surgical transplantation procedures, clinics, candidate selection, pre and post operative care, and donor organ evaluation and recovery. Depending on the candidate’s experience and clinical need, this position might be expected to contribute to the Seattle Children’s Hospital (SCH) transplant program by taking call, participating in surgical transplantation procedures, and providing pre and post operative care. Leadership role(s) may be available depending on candidate’s experience.

All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

Compensation packages consist of a base salary plus additional compensation components. Base salaries at all ranks will be commensurate with candidate experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. These ranges are inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University.

  • Assistant Professor (WOT) rank: The base salary range for this position will be: $30,000 - $33,334 per month ($360,000 - $400,008 annually);
  • Associate Professor (WOT) rank: The base salary range for this position will be: $37,500 - $45,417 per month ($450,000 - $545,004 annually);
  • Professor (WOT) rank: The base salary range for this position will be: $45,834 - $58,334 per month ($550,008 - $700,008 annually).

In addition, other compensation associated with these positions may include incentive through UWP and administrative supplements for leadership positions. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by the UWP practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Requirements for this position include:

  • MD degree (or foreign equivalent)
  • Board eligibility (or foreign equivalent) by the American Board of Surgery, inclusive of   completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE)
  • Successful completion of a transplant surgery fellowship
  • Eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington
  • Applicants must hold U.S. permanent residence or U.S. citizenship
