Position Description
The University of Washington Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology is seeking a full-time ARNP or PA at the rank of Teaching Associate. The Advanced Practice Provider (ARNP or PA) will be deployed at UWMC and Fred Hutch Cancer Center (FHCC) at Northwest Hospital (NWH) and will provide hematologic/oncologic related evaluation and medical management of consulted patients.
The Northwest Hospital Inpatient Heme Onc Consult ARNP/PA-C may work with a variety of hematology/oncology patients to assess and manage basic health needs, address treatment toxicities, perform procedures, monitor for cancer progression or recurrence, and consult with professional peers as needed. They work collaboratively with the assigned consult oncology physician to coordinate care of patients. All clinical responsibilities are performed within the scope of practice, institutional privileges, and under the supervision of an attending physician.
This position is hired at 1.0 FTE and Teaching Associates in the Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
This position may require weekend and holiday coverage
Responsibilities
· Rounds on all consulted Northwest Hospital inpatients.
· Reports off to consulting physician prior to and during daily rounds.
· Performs complex and problem-focused H & P’s.
· Evaluates and manages on-treatment and post-treatment side effects.
· Performs procedures according to licensure, credentialing, and scope of practice
· Collaborates and consults with other disciplines and services to ensure safe, effective, and timely treatment as well as continuity of patient care.
· Participates in the conduct of cancer clinical research
· Provides patient, caregiver, and peer education
· Communicates effectively with inpatient and outpatient teams
· Participates in patient rounds, conferences and committees
· Other duties as assigned to meet dynamic inpatient UWMC needs, which may include cross-coverage for Heme/Onc at UWMC-Montlake.
Salary
The base salary range for this position will be: $10,917 - $16,788 per month ($131,004 - $201,456 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization

Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program required
- Two years of ARNP or PA-C experience in Hematology and Medical Oncology preferred
- Washington state & DEA licensure required at time of credentialing
- ACLS within three months of hire date
- Strong oral and written communication skills required
- Electronic Medical Record experience
