Position Description

The University of Washington Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine has an academic anesthesiologist position available at the rank of Assistant Professor.  This position is without tenure, due to funding and is part-time, with an anticipated start date of July 2026 or thereafter.  Duties include the teaching of residents, fellows and medical students and training of the clinical care team.  The successful candidate will provide general anesthesia service and critical care services.  University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.  Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30).  Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.  Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank.  The base salary range for this position is $29,532 - $32,126 per month ($354,384 - $385,512 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a US Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.  This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University.  Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations.  Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through the UWP practice plan.  Compensation provided by the UWP practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.  For practitioners holding an appointment in the physicians practice plan, see the link for additional benefits that may be available at UWP:  https://faculty.uwmedicine.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/UWP-Benefits-Summary-for-recruitingef-edits-v3.pdf.

Qualifications

Must have MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent).  Must be Board certified or eligible (or foreign equivalent) in anesthesiology and must be eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington.  Must have a minimum of one-year fellowship training (or foreign equivalent) in critical care medicine.  This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
