Position Details

Position Description

The Center for Suicide Prevention and Recovery (CSPAR) and its NIMH P50 center grant, the Suicide Care Research Center (SCRC), in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington School of Medicine are seeking a full-time postdoctoral scholar or Fellow Non-ACGME researcher  to work in our centers on primary data collection and secondary analysis of research trials and training initiatives in suicide prevention.  Please see our websites for the variety and scope of projects involved. This is a 1-year appointment with the opportunity for reappointment. The intended start date is negotiable.

The SCRC Methods and Team Science Cores will train the postdoctoral school or Fellow Non-ACGME researcher in the optimization and implementation of clinical care for suicide prevention using human centered design (HCD) and multi-phase optimization strategy (MOST). The postdoctoral school or Fellow Non-ACGME researcher will apply this model to maximize implementation of suicide prevention interventions and training initiatives under the supervision of center director, Kate Comtois, PhD, MPH. Training includes both didactic and experiential components including mentorship and supervision in evidence-based suicide care, mixed methods implementation science, data management and statistical analysis, manuscript and presentation preparation, and assisting with grant preparation. Training is designed to prepare trainees for an independent research career as Principal Investigator of pragmatic effectiveness and implementation trials and quasi-experimental research.

Applications are being accepted for this position with Dr. Kate Comtois (Director of CSPAR and SCRC) in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington. Applicants must have a doctorate in a relevant area of study prior to start date, excellent communication and leadership skills, experience conducting clinical, implementation or public health research and data analysis, and desire to develop expertise in pragmatic clinical trials and implementation research. Training and experience in key work areas (suicide care, suicide research, HCD, MOST, implementation science) and lived experience will increase competitiveness. Clinical opportunities in suicide care are possible up to 20% time.
