Position Description
The Division of General Internal Medicine (GIM) in the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington, is currently accepting online applications for up to 10 faculty positions at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank in the Clinical Practice track. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW’s Faculty Code Section 24-34. While the anticipated start date is July 1, 2026, specific start date is negotiable and select positions may be available immediately.
These positions will be attending physicians in the University of Washington Medical Center outpatient clinics. Candidates may be considered at individual or multiple clinics affiliated with UWMC—the General Internal Medicine Center (GIMC) and/or OB/GYN and Primary Care (OBGC) at UWMC-Roosevelt. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. All positions will include providing direct patient care, medical record documentation and billing for patient care, and clinical oversight of trainees (medical students, residents, and fellows). In addition to clinical work, teaching, scholarship, and service are integral to all Clinical Practice positions. The initial appointment period will be three years, at a minimum, with eligibility for renewal thereafter. Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure.
Only full-time positions (100% FTE) are eligible for H-1B and permanent residence sponsorship. Employer based permanent residence sponsorship is offered in the Clinical Practice track.
Salary
The base salary range for this position will be: $16,250 - $24,700 per month ($195,000 - $296,400 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Qualifications
Applicants must have a medical (MD or DO) degree (or foreign equivalent) and board certification* in Internal Medicine (or foreign equivalent). Applicants must hold or be eligible for Washington State Medical License.
*Note: Board certification in Internal Medicine must be completed within two years after residency.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
