Position Description
The University of Washington (UW) School of Medicine, Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) is seeking one Assistant Professor without tenure (WOT) due to funding on the Clinician-Scholar pathway at 1.00 FTE for the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC) and Harborview Medical Center (HMC). The Department of Emergency Medicine encompasses the UWMC-Montlake, the UWMC-Northwest Hospital (NWH), and the Harborview Medical Center Emergency Departments.
Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1 - June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The anticipated start date is August 1, 2026 or thereafter. Duties include the teaching of trainees, supervision of clinical care team within the UW Emergency Department(s). All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. The UW DEM supports a 4-year Emergency Medicine Residency Program and several fellowships.
The base salary for this position will be $17,500 – $24,199 per month ($210,000-$290,388 per annum) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Please note, this represents only the base salary. In addition, there may be an opportunity for a monthly clinical incentive payment through UW Physicians practice plan, and may also include a relocation incentive or administrative supplement dependent upon your role within the department. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determination and calculations.

Qualifications
- Candidates for this position must hold an M.D./D.O. degree (or foreign equivalent).
- Candidates must possess or be eligible for full medical licensure in Washington State.
- Candidates must be board eligible or certified in Emergency Medicine.
- In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services
