Position Description
The University of Washington Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery is seeking one full-time ARNP or PA at the rank of Teaching Associate. The Advanced Practice Provider (ARNP or PA) deployed at UWMC Mountlake and Fred Hutch Cancer Center (FHCC), is a member of a tertiary care Otolaryngology-HNS team that includes 14 attending physicians, 25 residents, 7 APPS, as well as audiologists, speech language pathologists and over 50 support staff.
The candidate will be an integral member of our Head & Neck Surgery and Oncology team. Clinically, the applicant will be responsible for providing services independently and collaboratively in the outpatient environment including initial and ongoing assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patient’s medical status. This is a Teaching Associate position in the Department of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery. Teaching Associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
The anticipated start date is May 1, 2026. Experience is preferred but new graduates are encouraged to apply.
Desired Experience
- Clinical expertise in the care of surgical and oncologic patients.
- Training and experience in the provision of otolaryngology care including initial assessment, diagnostic evaluation, and management of non-surgical Otolaryngology indications: oral cavity lesions, head & neck skin cancer patients including melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and basal cell carcinoma, dysphagia, chronic cough, chronic sinusitis, conducting pre/post op visits, performing sino-nasal endoscopy, and cerumen removal.
Standards of Practice and Performance
- Provide complex and problem-focused surveillance care, screening/diagnostic evaluation, management, and follow-up with otolaryngology patients.
- Participate in the interdisciplinary evaluation, management, and follow-up of patients using appropriate clinical practice guidelines.
- Evaluate and manage urgent issues.
- Perform procedures according to licensure, credentialing, and scope of practice including wound assessment, radiological interpretation, oral/pharyngeal endoscopy, sino-nasal endoscopy, and cerumen removal
- Collaborate with the Otolaryngology team, PCPs, and other providers to ensure coordination and continuity of care for patients across the continuum of care and over time.
- Participate as a key member of the interdisciplinary team through the development of collaborative and innovative practices and evaluation of patient care outcomes.
- Provide other duties as requested, consistent with the APP role.
Salary
The base salary range for this position will be: $10,000 - $11,667 per month ($120,00 - $140,004 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
