Position Description
The University of Washington Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology is seeking two (2) full-time pathologists for appointment to join our Hematopathology Division on the School of Medicine’s clinical practice track. Clinical responsibilities will include primarily analysis and reporting of flow cytometry (diagnostic and minimal residual disease testing), some morphology (for lymph nodes, tissues, bloods and marrows; no surgical pathology and no frozen section coverage), and may include hemoglobin electrophoresis, coagulation reporting, and possibly molecular diagnostic testing, depending on the interests of the candidate and needs of the Division. The successful candidate will be required to learn how to use Mac-based software and tools as part of their role. Educational activities include teaching hematology/hematopathology to students, technologists, residents and fellows. Applicants are expected to be involved in developing an area of scholarship.
This appointment may be at the rank of Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice, Associate Professor of Clinical Practice or Professor of Clinical Practice. Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank.
Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure. The initial period for the Professor of Clinical Practice appointment will be 3 years. Multi-year renewal of the faculty appointment is contingent upon satisfactory performance, the needs of the department, availability of resources, and in accordance with university policy and procedure governing reappointment. This position remains open until filled.
The base salary range for this position will be: $20,659 to $35,570 per month ($247,902 to $426,838 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Qualifications
Candidates must have an M.D. or D.O. (or foreign equivalent) and be Board-eligible or certified in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology (American Board of Pathology). The candidate should additionally either be Board-eligible or certified in Hematopathology. Subspecialty expertise in Hematopathology is required. Must qualify for a license to practice medicine in Washington State. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
