Position Description
The Department of Radiation Oncology has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Teaching Associate- Advanced Practice Provider (ARNP or PA-C). The successful candidate’s primary site of practice will be UWMC-Northwest Gamma Knife Center, but may be asked to shift work to other UW/FHCC Radiation Oncology sites of practice if the clinical need arises.
The selected candidate will be proposed for appointment to the full-time faculty as a Teaching Associate at the University of Washington with an anticipated start date of July 2026 or earlier. Teaching Associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
The Radiation Oncology APP is a certified advanced practice provider whose integrated role encompasses both clinical care and education. The ARNP/PA-C functions collaboratively with attending physicians and as a key member of the interdisciplinary oncology team. The successful candidate will demonstrate advanced clinical judgment, a high degree of professional autonomy, and the ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team to deliver exemplary, evidence-based oncology care.
The base salary range for this position will be: $10,530 - $15,698 per month ($126,360 – $188,376 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive radiation oncology subspecialty care as part of an interdisciplinary team, managing all aspects of care from intake and consult, to on therapy and into surveillance and survivorship.
- Conduct comprehensive physical assessments and ongoing evaluations. Order, interpret and manage laboratory and radiographic studies. Prescribe medications and adjust treatment plans as clinically indicated.
- Manage acute medical issues that arise during radiation treatment and provide acute symptom guidance for patients on therapy as well as guidance into survivorship for late effects of radiation.
- Collaborate with subspecialists and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive, patient-centered cancer care. Facilitate referrals to community agencies and supportive care resources.
- Document all clinical encounters and treatment decisions in accordance with University of Washington Physicians (UWP) standards and compliance requirements for billing.
Qualifications
- Current valid Washington State license as Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) or Physician Associate (PA-C).
- If ARNP, current Washington State license to practice as a registered nurse.
- Graduate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or Physician Assistant program.
- Nationally certified ARNP/PA-C.
- Active DEA license.
- Experience working with high-risk patients and clinical teaching experience.
- One or more years’ experience working with complex patients.
- One or more years’ history of effectiveness in working in an interdisciplinary, collaborative team environment as proven through supervisory references.
- Training and/or experience in the provision of outpatient care including initial and ongoing assessment, diagnostic evaluation, and management of patients acutely and in long term follow up.
