Position Description

The University of Washington Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine has an academic anesthesiologist position available at the rank of Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice.  This position is either full-time or part-time with an anticipated start date of March 2026.  This position is not tenure-track and not eligible for tenure.  Duties include the teaching of residents, fellows, medical students and the clinical care team.  The successful candidate will provide general and liver transplant anesthesia services.  University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.  The initial appointment period will be three years with eligibility for renewal thereafter.  Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30).  Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.   The base salary range for this position will be $29,532 - $31,337 per month ($354,384 - $376,044 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a US Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.  This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University.  Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations.  Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through the UWP practice plan.  Compensation provided by the UWP practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.  For practitioners holding an appointment in the physicians practice plan, see the link for additional benefits that may be available at UWP:  https://faculty.uwmedicine.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/UWP-Benefits-Summary-for-recruitingef-edits-v3.pdf.

 

Qualifications

Must have MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent).  Must be Board certified or eligible (or foreign equivalent) in anesthesiology and must be eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington.  Must have a minimum of one-year fellowship training (or foreign equivalent) in transplant anesthesia.  In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.  Visa sponsorship not available for part-time position.
