Postdoctoral Scholar - Roman Crowded Field Photometry Specialist

The Department of Astronomy at the University of Washington invites applications for one Postdoctoral Scholar position starting in March 2026. The position is a full-time, 24-month (two-year) appointment, which may be extended to a third year upon successful performance, subject to funding and mutual agreement. Postdoctoral Scholar appointments are full-time, 12-month appointments for a duration of two years, with the possibility of renewal for a third year, subject to funding and mutual agreement. The Postdoctoral Scholar title is limited to at most five years of postdoctoral experience(s) at both the UW and any prior institutions. The salary range for this position is $68,460 to $85,000 per year.

The successful candidate will work with Professor Ben Williams on software development for the Roman Space Telescope and help in the development and testing of the definitive crowded field photometry routine for the Roman Space Telescope. This work will provide deep, high-resolution near-infrared imaging of far more area than ever before possible. We intend for the crowded field photometry analysis tools resulting from this project to become the gold-standard photometry tools for the coming decade.
