Position Description
The University of Washington’s Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Division of Physiatry, is offering an outstanding opportunity for a neuromuscular physiatrist to join our faculty. This will be a full-time academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor without tenure due to source of funding, which is typical of ranked faculty appointments within the department. Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Associate and full professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW’s Faculty Code Section 24-34.
Position FTE may be negotiable; however, please note that the University of Washington does not sponsor part-time positions for visas or for legal permanent residence.
Anticipated start date is summer or fall 2026, but other dates may be considered.

As a member of the Division of Physiatry, the successful candidate will participate in clinical practice, teaching, and scholarship.
The physician hired will provide clinical care in the predominantly outpatient setting seeing patients with neuromuscular conditions as a focus of interest at the UW Medical Center-Montlake campus or Harborview Medical Center. The patient population served will include individuals with motor neuron diseases, muscular dystrophies, neuropathies, and general rehabilitation. The individual hired will conduct EMGs, among other procedures. There is also the opportunity to rotate as attending on the consults service and/or inpatient rehabilitation unit at UWMC Montlake. They may provide teaching and education of trainees via clinical supervision. They may also be involved in curriculum development and teaching in our EMG course or other residency didactics.
Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, candidates who have completed a neuromuscular medicine fellowship.

COMPENSATION
The base salary range for this position will be as follows: Assistant Professors $15,000 - $20,598 per month ($180,000 - $247,176 annually), Associate Professors $18,700 - $24,480 per month ($224,400 - $293,760 annually), Professors $23,500 - $27,336 per month ($282,000 - $328,032 annually) -- commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.
Other compensation associated with this position may include any of the following: incentive through UW Physicians (UWP), moving allowance, relocation incentive.

The department has four clinical divisions: General Physiatry, Sports and Spine Physiatry, Pediatric Rehabilitation, and Rehabilitation Psychology & Neuropsychology. Faculty provide clinical services across four UW Medicine campuses: Harborview Medical Center, University of Washington Medical Center-Montlake, University of Washington Medical Center-Northwest, and UW Eastside Specialty Center. More than 25 of our faculty are based at Seattle Children’s Hospital and the Veteran’s Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System, which are UW Medicine-affiliated organizations. The Sports and Spine division provides care at seven clinics throughout the UW Medicine system.
We offer nationally recognized training in rehabilitation therapies and rehabilitation research through a PM&R Residency; multiple ACGME and non-ACGME fellowships and residencies in psychology, physical therapy, and more; postdoctoral scholarships; and four graduate degree programs: PhD in Rehabilitation Science, Master in Occupational Therapy, Master in Prosthetics and Orthotics, and Doctor of Physical Therapy.

Qualifications
- MD/DO or foreign equivalent
- PM&R boarded or board eligible required
- Licensed or license-eligible to practice medicine in the State of Washington
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or foreign equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
