Position Description

The Department of Neurology at the University of Washington School of Medicine is seeking to hire an outstanding clinical neurologist to work with patients with neuroimmune disease at the University of Washington Medical Center. The UW Medicine MS Center is a multi-disciplinary care specialty center for Multiple Sclerosis and related CNS autoimmune disorders awarded for its level of quality of care by the National MS Society and has repeatedly received Patient Satisfaction Excellence Awards. The successful applicant will be a member of a busy academic service performing a variety of clinical duties including outpatient clinical care at the UW Medicine Multiple Sclerosis Center at Northwest Hospital and a range of other possible clinical activities that could include general neurology inpatient attending, specialty clinics, and teleneurology. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

This is a full-time appointment and is a Open rank (without tenure for reasons due to funding). The rank is commensurate with qualification and experience.

Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The base salary range for this position in this title will be $20,215 - $22,917 per month ($242,580 to $275,004 per year), commensurate with experience, discipline, and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Associate and Full Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.  The base salary range for the Associate Professor title will be $22,602 - $25,057 ($271,224 to $300,684 per year) and the base salary range for the Professor title will be $25,344 - $28,504 per month ($304,128 to $342,048 per year), commensurate with experience, discipline, and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Our salaries are benchmarked based on the AAMC scale. Other compensation associated with this position may or may not include Relocation Incentive/Moving Allowance, Administrative supplement for a defined administrative role, or Productivity Incentive.

The anticipated start date of this appointment is July 1, 2026. 

Qualifications

Requirements include:

  • M.D. or D.O. or foreign equivalent degree, eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Washington, and certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Neurology (or eligibility to sit for the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialities accrediation). 
  • In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
