Position Description

The Department of Engineering & Mathematics of the School of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) at the University of Washington Bothell (UWB) invites applications for a teaching track position in Electrical Engineering at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor. While primarily focused on teaching, teaching track faculty at the University of Washington are also expected to engage in scholarship and service. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time basis for a nine-month academic year appointment beginning September 16, 2026. 

The base salary range for this position will be $11,143 - $11,729 per month during the nine-month academic year ($100,287-$105,561 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.   

The successful candidate will be expected to teach a wide range of undergraduate courses, supervise capstone projects, engage in scholarship, participate in multi-disciplinary collaborative projects, and support and enhance learning for students from diverse backgrounds.  

Candidates will be considered across a range of research and teaching interests in electrical engineering. Current needs are greatest in analog and digital circuit design, particularly as applied to biomedical systems. 

In addition to their teaching interest, the successful candidate will be expected to teach core undergraduate courses, spanning from circuits, devices, digital circuit design, signal & systems, and laboratories as well as capstone supervision. 

The Electrical Engineering program is part of the Department of Engineering and Mathematics, which is housed in the School of STEM. In addition to Electrical Engineering, the department has programs in mechanical engineering, computer engineering, and Mathematics. The program offers a BS in Electrical Engineering, a BS in Computer Engineering (jointly run with the Department of Computer Systems and Software (CSS), an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering, and a Graduate Certificate in Electrical and Computer Engineering Foundation. The Electrical Engineering program is comprised of 8 full-time and several part-time faculty, with vast academic and industrial experience. The EE faculty have expertise in a broad range of areas, including power systems, signal processing, communication systems, power electronics, embedded systems, design of organic cells, AI and machine learning, etc. The program has well-equipped labs and facilities to conduct teaching and research.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or closely related fields by the date of hire.
