The University of Washington Department of Anthropology is hiring a Lecturer Part-Time Temporary to teach classes in Archaeology.

Washington State Law requires that this ad list a binding salary range. The base salary range for this position will be $7,500-10,200 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Background: 

The Department of Anthropology at the University of Washington, Seattle seeks to hire a leave replacement Lecturer Part-Time Temporary at 100% FTE to teach archaeology classes in Winter Quarter and Spring quarters (December 16, 2025 through June 15, 2026). The Lecturer Part-Time Temporary appointment is a non-tenure track, non-voting eligible faculty title.

Responsibilities:

The person appointed into this role will teach two classes in Winter Quarter and two in Spring quarter, in person.

Classes include:

·       ARCHY 410 (Archaeological Theory)

·       ARCHY 369 (Indigenous Archaeology)

·       One regional archaeology class from ARCHY 320 (Pacific Northwest), ARCHY 304 (Americas), or ARCHY 325 (Island SE Asia

·       And one class in consultation with the Archaeology faculty.

Instructional dates for Winter Quarter are January 6 through March 20, 2026, and for Spring Quarter are March 30 through June 12, 2026. All courses are to be taught in person.

Qualifications

By the time of appointment (December 16, 2025), candidates must have earned a Ph.D., or foreign equivalent, in Anthropology or related field and a clear record of effective teaching.
