Position Description
The Accounting Department at the Michael G. Foster School of Business, University of Washington, is recruiting to hire one full-time tenure eligible Assistant or Associate Professors for the 2026-2027 academic year, with an anticipated start date of September 16, 2026. The annual service period is nine months. The position is open to all teaching and research areas within accounting. University of Washington faculty members engage in research, teaching, and service. Duties include conducting high-quality scholarly research in accounting or a related field, and effectively teaching courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. The base salary range for these positions will be between $28,000 and $36,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Other compensation associated with this position may include a moving allowance, summer research funding, endowments (tenured) and administrative supplements.
Qualifications
Candidates must have, or be nearing completion of, a Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in accounting or related field. A qualified candidate may be considered for temporary appointment as an Acting Assistant Professor, pending PhD with conversion to appointment as an Assistant Professor after degree conferral if the terminal degree has not been conferred by the position start date.
