Position Description

The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington (UW) are jointly recruiting a full-time faculty member at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level without tenure due to funding (WOT), in the Clinical Research Division of the Fred Hutch and the Division of Gastroenterology, Department of Medicine at the UW. The primary appointment will be in the Clinical Research Division of Fred Hutch. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW’s Faculty Code Section 24-34.University of Washington assistant professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments and associate professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that both align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

The selected individual for the advertised position is expected to contribute to our mission of delivering outstanding clinical care and developing excellence in clinical research in gastroenterology. Leadership opportunities on the gastroenterology service may be available depending on candidate qualifications and program needs. All clinical and translational research experiences and interests will be considered, and expertise and focus in gastrointestinal malignancies is highly desirable. Fred Hutch and University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. Teaching responsibilities will involve oversight of advanced practice providers and fellows during inpatient and outpatient rotations, and delivery of informal teaching sessions and formal lectures to providers and the general medical community.

This position is paid directly by Fred Hutch and receives no UW compensation.  Please refer to Fred Hutch for information about compensation for this position.

Faculty are expected to perform their primary activities on-site at Fred Hutch.

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have a record of and primary interest in gastroenterological malignancies, as well as an active clinical research interest, as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications, in the application of endoscopic and other modalities to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of human cancers.   

 

Applicants must have an MD/DO degree (or foreign equivalent), board certification in Gastroenterology (or foreign equivalent), and must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington
