The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Seattle Children's Hospital (SCH) is seeking a candidate for one full-time or part-time faculty position at the rank of Acting Assistant Professor.
This position will serve as Director for the Pediatric Feeding Program (PFP), which is housed within the Seattle Children’s Autism Center.
Acting Assistant Professor appointments are for one year, renewable up to a maximum of four years, consistent with university policy.
Acting faculty hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Part-time positions are not eligible for visa sponsorship. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research/scholarship, and service.
Job Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
- The psychologist will join the Pediatric Feeding Program (PFP), which is one of the only feeding programs in the Pacific Northwest where an interdisciplinary team of experts provides comprehensive, team-based care for children ages 1 through 18 and their families with complex feeding concerns.
- Our team includes child psychologists, a gastroenterologist, registered dietitians, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, licensed behavior analysts, social workers and nurse practitioners.
- The program also collaborates with healthcare providers from other Seattle Children’s clinics, such Neurodevelopmental Medicine and the Aerodigestive Program.
- Services are provided both in person at the Seattle Children’s Autism Center as well as via videoconference.
- Services are delivered across a continuum of care, which includes parent psychoeducation (e.g., classes), monthly check-ins, weekly visits, and intensive outpatient care.
- Our program values the integration of clinical work and research to evaluate the best ways to help children and families with feeding disorders.
- The faculty psychologist will also be involved with research, program development and evaluation, and measurement-based care efforts in the clinic.
- In addition to providing direct clinical care, this position would involve supervising trainees such as postdoctoral psychology fellows, pre-doctoral psychology interns, psychology practicum students, and child and adolescent psychiatry fellows.
- There may also be opportunities to work in other clinics and settings within the hospital across the continuum of care.
- Take call responsibilities commensurate with other clinically active faculty in the Department.
- You may have other responsibilities as assigned by the Chair or Service Chief by mutual agreement.

Seattle Children’s Hospital
Seattle Children’s Hospital (SCH) is a large tertiary medical center affiliated with the University of Washington School of Medicine and serving a four-state area. Seattle Children’s provides a wide continuum of programming for children in the Pacific Northwest that address community-based care and prevention. Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Health is a focus program at SCH and receives extraordinary support for its important role in the Northwest.
Salary
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
Other compensation associated with this position may include an incentive through Children's University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan.
The base salary range for an Acting Assistant Professor position will be $8,500 - $10,417 per month ($102,000 - $125,004 annually).
Qualifications
A PhD, PsyD, EdD (or foreign equivalent) in a relevant field and eligibility for a Washington State license in Psychology.
APA approved internship or if internship is not APA eligible, then must meet the requirements listed in WAC 246-924-056.
