Position Description

The Department of Microbiology at the University of Washington in Seattle is conducting a search for a Research Assistant Professor in the field of persistence and drug tolerance in pathogenic bacteria, including M. tuberculosis. The investigator will be able to interact with University of Washington investigators interested in developing strategies to treat and prevent emerging infectious diseases and HIV. The position is a 12-month, full time, non- tenure track position in the School of Medicine. The anticipated start date is summer 2025. The base full-time equivalent salary range for this position will be $70,000 - $80,000 per annum commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

 

The successful candidate is expected to engage in innovative investigation and develop a growing regional or national reputation for leading the development of an independent research program on the adaptive strategies and resulting physiology of pathogenic bacteria exposed to chemotherapy

University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a strong record of graduate research and at least three years of postdoctoral experience and publications, as well as a total of 3 to 4 years of experience working on pathogenic bacteria in a BL-3 environment is required.

 

Candidates for this position must hold a PhD degree in microbiology or related discipline (or foreign equivalent). An MD or foreign equivalent is also acceptable.
