Position Description
The University of Washington’s School of Medicine Department of Urology and Seattle Children’s Hospital are seeking an exceptional and visionary Division Chief of Pediatric Urology to lead our nationally recognized team. This leadership role provides an outstanding opportunity to shape the future of pediatric urology through excellence in clinical care, research, education, and innovation. The Division Chief will oversee a dynamic team of 10 faculty members, 10 advanced practice providers (APPs), and supports and advises clinical and administrative teams, ensuring quality standards and operational efficiencies are met. The department of Urology has highly sought educational programs that include an ACGME accredited Residency Program that graduates four residents per year, including two on the five-year (clinical) and two on the six-year (research) residency tracks, which rotate at Seattle Children’s Hospital and an ACGME accredited two year Fellowship in pediatric urology led by the pediatric division. The position is a full-time without tenure (WOT) academic position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor commensurate with experience and qualifications with an anticipated start date as early as fall 2025. Associate and Full Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. University of Washington faculty engage in clinical care, teaching, research, and service.
The successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively to equally advance and support the clinical, research, and educational programs of a large diverse department and is expected to lead with excellence in clinical practice, research, educating, mentoring, and working with faculty, administration, residents, and students from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds. This position will be expected to engage in strategic planning, mentorship, and development of clinician and non-clinician scientists, and will be expected to support the department's commitment to fostering an equitable environment that is inclusive, humanistic and respects all facets of diversity. Salary
The base salary range for this position will be: Associate Professor range: $41,667 - $47,000 per month ($500,004 - $564,000 annually), Professor range: $48,000 - $59,500 per month ($576,000- $714,000 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by CUMG practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.
Other Compensation
In addition to base salary, this position will receive an administrative supplement tied to their administrative role as Division Chief. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through Children's University Medical Group practice plan. Incentive is inclusive of variable incentive, Monthly or Semi-Annual Additional Compensation (MAC/SAAC).
The Department of Urology has an established and high volume pediatric urology practice, a large clinical population from the state of Washington and four neighboring states, active research programs, and an extremely strong academic urology faculty. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and grow a pediatric urology practice. The candidate will collaborate with other pediatric surgeons and practitioners within and across UW Medicine and its affiliated entities.
The University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. Duties of the position include providing excellent clinical management of pediatric urologic conditions, and teaching residents, fellows and students. Qualifications
The candidate must have an MD (or foreign equivalent) and have sub-specialty training in pediatric urology as demonstrated by the completion of a two year pediatric urology fellowship in an accredited program. The candidate must also be board-certified or board eligible in urology and pediatric urology.
All candidates must be eligible for and able to maintain a Washington State medical license. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Additionally, successful candidates will hold the following pre-requisites:
- At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role within an academic pediatric urology program.
- Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, research, education, and administration.
- A proven track record of mentorship, collaboration, and program development.
