Position Description

The Center for Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases (CERID) in the Division of Allergy & Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine, University of Washington is seeking applicants for a full-time faculty position. This position will be at the Professor level, without tenure for reasons of funding (WOT), and will have teaching and research responsibilities. Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. This position is anticipated to start in July 2025. 

The successful applicant will develop and lead an innovative research program focused on the molecular biology of antimicrobial resistance and on the development of novel, robust, safe and affordable antimicrobial agents for parasitic diseases. This position will involve an active teaching portfolio in microbiology, molecular biology and pharmaceutical sciences, including at the undergraduate level, and will develop courses focused on biologic principles related to global health focused diseases. The successful applicant will therefore be expected to participate in undergraduate and graduate instruction/laboratory-based research programs.

University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

The base salary range for this position will be: $16,587 - $18,165 per month ($199,044 - $217,980 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a PhD (or foreign equivalent) in Microbiology, Infectious Diseases, or a related field. The successful candidate will have research expertise and demonstrated national/international reputation in the area of infectious parasitic diseases drug discovery/development. Candidates must have a demonstrated track record of funding and evidence of scholarly productivity and publications.
