Position Description

The University of Washington’s Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Division of Rehabilitation Psychology & Neuropsychology, is seeking a full-time clinical psychologist for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor on the Clinical Practice Track.

In addition to clinical work, teaching is integral to all Clinical Practice positions. The initial appointment period will be three years, at a minimum, with eligibility for renewal thereafter. Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure.

The position is available beginning in Summer 2025; a specific start date is negotiable.

Clinical duties will include inpatient care, on the inpatient rehabilitation unit and/or the consult service and in the outpatient clinic (CORP) at Harborview Medical Center. Provide direct clinical services to individuals referred for rehabilitation psychology services to manage behavioral health issues including mental health diagnoses (e.g., depression, anxiety, adjustment disorder), health conditions (e.g., pain, cognition), engagement in medical treatment (e.g., motivation, behavioral change) and provide psychoeducation related to diagnosis/treatment impacts on health and wellbeing.  

Opportunities are available for supervision of psychology predoctoral and postdoctoral trainees within our APA-accredited internship and fellowship programs, as well as lectures at the graduate/medical school level. Opportunities also are available for mentorship, career growth, and leadership.

The individuals hired for this position will work with marginalized and culturally diverse communities holding a range of worldviews.

COMPENSATION

The base salary range for this position will be: Associate Professor of Clinical Practice $10,833 - $13,434 per month ($129,996 - $164,432 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Other compensation associated with this position may include any of the following: incentive through UW Physicians (UWP), moving allowance, relocation incentive.

Key research focus areas include limb loss, pain, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, brain injury, and disability. In fiscal year 2023, our department researchers received more than $15.7 million in awards from government and private sources. In addition, our departmental faculty who are based at VA Puget Sound Health Care System have a total of $21.8 million in current funding.

·       The department has four clinical divisions: General Physiatry, Sports and Spine Physiatry, Pediatric Rehabilitation, and Rehabilitation Psychology & Neuropsychology. Faculty provide clinical services across four UW Medicine campuses: Harborview Medical Center, University of Washington Medical Center-Montlake, University of Washington Medical Center-Northwest, and UW Eastside Specialty Center. More than 25 of our faculty are based at Seattle Children’s Hospital and the Veteran’s Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System, which are UW Medicine-affiliated organizations. The Sports and Spine division provides care at seven clinics throughout the UW Medicine system.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a PhD or PsyD or foreign equivalent from an APA-approved clinical psychology graduate school program and also must be licensed or license-eligible to practice psychology in the State of Washington.
