Position Description
The Department of Neurology at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle is hiring a general neurologist at the Assistant, Associate or full Professor (without tenure for reasons of funding) rank to join the Division of Pediatric Neurology at Seattle Children’s Hospital. This is a full-time, 12-month service period appointment (July 1 – June 30). The responsibilities of this position will include inpatient service weeks, outpatient clinics and supervision of adult and pediatric neurology residents. Candidates with subspecialty interests or training will also be considered.
The Pediatric Neurology Division at Seattle Children’s Hospital provides comprehensive treatment and diagnostic services for children in the WWAMI (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho) region. Seattle Children’s is a 364 bed hospital with 44 PICU, 32 NICU and 20 Cardiothoracic ICU beds. The Division of Neurology includes over 30 faculty members with a range of specialty interests who lead multiple subspecialty programs. The Division is supported by 10 Advanced Practice Nurses, ketogenic dieticians, and research coordinators. Faculty are involved in clinical and preclinical local and multi-center research studies. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.
Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The base salary range for this position in this title will be $18,065 - $19,042 per month ($216,780 to $228,504 per year), commensurate with experience, discipline, and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
Associate and Full Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The base salary range for this position in this title will be $21,244 - $23,940 per month ($254,928 to $287,280 per year), commensurate with experience, discipline, and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
Our salaries are bench marked based on the AAMC scale. Other compensation associated with this position may or may not include Startup, Relocation Incentive/Moving Allowance Administrative supplement for a defined administrative role, or Productivity Incentive.
Salary is commensurate with experience. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2025.
Qualifications
Requires an M.D. or D.O. degree or foreign equivalent. Must be eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
