The University of Washington (UW), Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatology is currently recruiting up to two full-time Pediatric Neonatologist on the Faculty Scientist track at the level of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or full Professor without tenure by reason of funding (WOT), commensurate with experience and qualifications. As described in UW’s Faculty Code Section 24-34. Faculty on this track generally spend the majority of time in research however, clinical care and teaching are also an expectation.
Anticipated start date is Spring 2025; a specific start date is negotiable.
Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
Associate and full Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professors $18,618 - $27,927 per month ($223,416 - $335,124 annually), Associate Professors $21,793 - $32,689 per month ($261,516 - $392,268 annually), Professors $24,947 - $37,420 per month ($299,364 - $449,040 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.
Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through Children’s University Medical Group practice plan. Additional administrative responsibilities may be offered to a specific candidate with appropriate experience and qualifications which may result in an administrative supplement (ADS).
This is an exceptional opportunity for a neonatologist who wishes to spend most of their time dedicated to research at the Seattle Children’s Research Institute (SCRI) as well as some time devoted to clinical care and education. Seattle Children's Research Institute (SCRI) is one of the largest pediatric research institutions in the U.S., and it is organized into several research centers focusing on various aspects of pediatric health. The main research centers at SCRI include the Center for Clinical and Translational Research (CCTR), the Center for Developmental Biology and Regenerative Medicine (CDBRM), the Center for Global Infectious Disease Research (CGIDR), the Center for Immunity and Immunotherapies (CIIT), the Center for Integrative Brain Research (CIBR), the Center for Pediatric Bioethics and Palliative Care, and the Center for Child Health, Behavior, and Development (CHBD). Each of these centers engages in interdisciplinary research that combines clinical insights with scientific discoveries to improve pediatric health outcomes. Clinical sites of care include the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s Hospital in Seattle Washington.

Qualifications
This position requires an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent). Must be Board certified or board eligible (or foreign equivalent) in Neonatology and must be eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington.
Applicants must have completed a US accredited pediatric neonatology residency and a pediatric neonatology fellowship program.
Applicants must provide evidence of sustained research productivity in basic/translational pediatric neonatology research and demonstrate the potential for continued extramural funding.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all 3 steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
