Position Description

The Department of Neurology at the University of Washington (UW) School of Medicine is seeking to hire a neurologist to specialize in sleep medicine at the UW Medicine Sleep Center at Harborview Medical Center. Other potential practice sites within UW Medicine include the UW Medical Center at Montlake and the UW Medical Center at Northwest Hospital. The UW Medicine Sleep Center represents a dynamic environment to practice sleep medicine. The successful candidate will participate in outpatient and inpatient care of patients with sleep disorders and contribute to a currently developing hypoglossal nerve stimulator clinical program. This individual will interpret a wide variety sleep studies including: home sleep apnea tests, polysomnograms (both diagnostic and titration studies), multiple sleep latency tests, maintenance of wakefulness tests, and actigraphy. You will interact with an outstanding and dedicated multidisciplinary group of six sleep medicine physicians and three advanced practice registered nurses. This is a full-time open rank without tenure appointment. In addition to direct patient care, your responsibilities will include teaching and broadly defined scholarship activities. 

Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The base salary range for this position in this title will be $19,236 - $22,084 per month ($230,832 to $265,008 per year), commensurate with experience, discipline, and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Associate and Full Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.  The base salary range for this position in this title will be $21,295 - $26,679 per month ($255,540 to $320,148 per year), commensurate with experience, discipline, and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Our salaries are bench marked based on the AAMC scale. Other compensation associated with this position may or may not include Startup, Relocation Incentive/Moving Allowance Administrative supplement for a defined administrative role, or Productivity Incentive.

Salary is commensurate with experience. The anticipated start date is July 1 2025.

Qualifications

Requires an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent. Completion of a clinical neurophysiology or epilepsy fellowship training program is required. Must be eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
