Position Description
The University of Washington, Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences, is inviting applications for a self-funded Research Assistant Professor non-tenure track position, effective September 2025. The Research Assistant Professor will be expected to conduct, and obtain full funding for a program of research focused on executive functioning and developmental neuroscience in clinical populations, with a special emphasis on autism, early development and communications. There will also be a need to participate in dissertation committees, mentor other trainees in the conduct of research, and participate in professional service activities.
Non-tenure track positions of this type at the University of Washington have a 12-month service period. The initial term of appointment is for three years and open for part-time and full-time consideration.
Washington State Law requires that this ad list a binding salary range. The base salary range for this position will be $8,000—$12,000 per month ($96,000—$144,000 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Responsibilities
- Conducting an independently-funded research program that is directly related to executive functioning and developmental neuroscience in individuals with neurological and/or neurodevelopmental disorders with an emphasis on autism and communication.
- Securing and maintaining external funding to fully support the position and all aspects of the research program.
- Disseminating findings at national/international conferences and through journal publications.
- Mentoring departmental trainees in the conduct of research.
- Participating in professional and some departmental service activities.

Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Speech and Hearing Sciences, Clinical Psychology, or related field (or foreign equivalent) is required. All candidates using qualitative and quantitative approaches to assess neuropsychological functioning across development are welcome to apply.
