Position Description
The Division of Pediatric General Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the University of Washington, School of Medicine is accepting applications and nominations for a full-time faculty position in pediatric general surgery at Seattle Children’s Hospital (SCH). The faculty position is at the rank of Assistant Professor without tenure by reason of funding (WOT) or Associate Professor WOT. Assistant Professors hold three-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and associate professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. This position will have an anticipated start date in Summer/Fall 2025.
The primary clinical focus of this position will be in pediatric general and thoracic surgery. This position will be assigned clinic and OR time in accordance with the clinical FTE, and will take part in the regular call schedule and share equal call and Surgeon of the Week responsibilities with the other divisional faculty. The primary site of practice will be Seattle Children’s Hospital (SCH) Seattle Campus and SCH South Clinic. A primary focus will be to support growth in the SCH South Clinic area. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.
At the rank of Assistant Professor (WOT) the base salary for this position will be $34,167-$39,584 ($410,004-$475,008). At the rank of Associate Professor (WOT) the base salary range for this position will be $42,500-$46,668 per month ($510,000-$560,016 annually). Base salaries at all ranks will be commensurate with candidate experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through CUMG and/or payments for call participation. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in university benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by CUMG practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Qualifications
Prospective candidates must have an MD (or foreign equivalent) and be certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Surgery (or foreign equivalent). Must be licensed to practice medicine in Washington by the time of appointment. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
