Position Description

The Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery within the University of Washington School of Medicine is recruiting for one full-time Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (ARNP/PA) at the rank of Teaching Associate on a 12-month service period (Jul 1 – Jun 30), with an estimated start date in Spring 2025. Teaching Associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms.  Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

 

The base salary range for the position will be: $10,834 - $15,391 per month ($130,008 - $184,692 annually) commensurate with years of experience as a licensed ARNP or PA. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Other compensation associated with this position may include payments for vacancy coverage or premiums for factors such as acuity, nights, call should they apply to service. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

The successful candidate will be incorporated into the inpatient and outpatient team caring for surgical oncology patients at the UW Medical Center Montlake Campus. The ARNP/PA will provide comprehensive clinical care to patients in the pre-, peri-, and post-operative phases of care in the inpatient and outpatient setting, with inpatient care the position’s primary responsibility. Patients will be predominantly those undergoing complex abdominal and hepatopancreatobiliary surgeries.

Qualifications

Requirements for the ARNP include:

·       Current and valid Washington State Registered Nurse licensure, current and valid state Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner licensure with prescriptive authority

·       Masters Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, and

·       National certification as a Nurse Practitioner or certification-eligible

 

Requirements for PA include:

·       Current and valid state Physician Assistant licensure

·       Certification as a Physician Assistant or certification-eligible
