Position Description

The University of Washington (UW), Department of Medicine/Division of Cardiology is recruiting a full-time (1.0 FTE) interventional cardiologist to be primarily based at University of Washington Medical Center- Northwest (UWMC-Northwest) in the full-time clinical faculty track at the Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor level. Clinical faculty hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms.  Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW’s Faculty Code Section 24-34. The position is available effective April 1, 2025 though the specific start date is negotiable.

 

Successful candidates will be expected to provide patient care related to interventional cardiology and general cardiology in our highly regarded catheterization lab, inpatient floors, and outpatient clinics.  They will have a willingness to grow a robust interventional practice. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.  This position allows individuals to take advantage of the outstanding opportunities that exist for collaboration at the University of Washington. There will be involvement in medical education of cardiology and interventional fellows in the catheterization lab and didactic teaching. This position will remain open until filled.

 

The UW Medical Center-Northwest campus is a UW hospital that offers comprehensive cardiovascular services including a cardiac catheterization lab, electrophysiology lab, nuclear SPECT imaging, cardiac rehabilitation, and echocardiography including TEE, treadmill and dobutamine echo stress testing, and 3D imaging. A 6-story tower was recently opened to increase bed capacity and the outpatient clinic will be expanded in the fall 2024 to accommodate the growth in patient volumes.

 

 

Compensation

Salary

The base salary range will be: $19,166-$41,667 per month ($229,992-$500,004 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through UW Physicians practice plan, administrative salary supplement (ADS) and other categories that may be applicable, in particular includes payments for nights, call, holiday/weekend shift coverage.

Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have an MD or DO (or foreign equivalent), medical licensure in the state of Washington and Board Eligibility or Certification in Interventional Cardiology (or foreign equivalent) by the start date of employment. 

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
