UWC2 has a range of outstanding opportunities for part-time facilitators in Tacoma Professional Development Center’s Client-Specific and Customized Training (CCT) programs. Applicants will be considered for opportunities occurring October 2024 through September 30, 2025. 

Facilitators serve a key role in CCT programs, where organizations work with UWC2 to bring certificates, courses, or selected topics from UWC2 programs directly to their employees. Facilitators typically work on hourly projects that may or may not include direct instruction, such as training needs assessments, coaching, and project consultation. Facilitators often have the opportunity to work in-depth with CCT client organizations as subject matter experts in their field and are important ambassadors of UWC2. Light instructional work may be part of a facilitator’s responsibilities or may be covered under a separate instructional agreement, depending on the project. 

The pay range for these positions is $100-250 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Length of assignments, shifts, and specific responsibilities vary depending on specific staffing needs of individual courses, programs, and projects.

Professional Development Center Facilitators... 

  • Carry out responsibilities for client projects as outlined by UWC2 staff, including but not limited to: 
    • Interviewing employees and stakeholders as part of a needs assessment 
    • Analyzing organizational policies, procedures, and records as part of a needs assessment 
    • Preparing recommendation reports to inform structure and content of trainings or other work resulting from a needs assessment 
    • Facilitating working sessions with client employees 
    • Coaching client employees and leadership teams, individually or in groups 
    • Conducting and debriefing assessments, such as the DiSC, True Colors, emotional intelligence, StrengthsFinder, and Intercultural Development Inventory 
    • Leading informal and/or shorter workshops 
  • Meet with UWC2 staff and client organizations (together and separately) to define the scope of projects 
  • Work within the defined hours and scope of assigned projects 
  • Ensure that content, resources and presentation materials provided to clients and their employees are relevant and current 
  • Attend all client meetings and working sessions as scheduled 
  • Respond to client and UWC2 staff inquiries in a timely manner 
  • Coordinate with other instructors and facilitators on assigned projects, to ensure continuity across projects 
  • Adapt techniques based on feedback from client organizations and the Program Manager, and implement sound pedagogical practices 
  • Maintain relevant certifications or qualifications, such as those to deliver specific assessments 
  • Complete facilitator onboarding, relevant learning technology training, and other training as needed 
  • Collaborate with UWC2 staff to ensure all materials and reports meet University accessibility requirements and standards 
  • Observe FERPA, HIPAA, and other privacy laws and policies 
  • Participate in 1-2 CCT team meetings per year 
  • Attend limited pre-contract meetings with prospective clients and UWC2 staff as needed 

CCT programs involving facilitators vary in length and format, including but not limited to: needs assessments and recommendation reports; leadership consultations; team coaching sessions; and short speaking engagements. They may occur at any time of the year and often run during standard working hours (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Pacific), depending on the needs of the client organization.     

UWC2 Extension Lecturers / Facilitators are Academic Staff, not faculty. These are part-time, temporary positions. 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Minimum five years of professional experience relevant to the course topics 
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills 
  • Ability, and desire, to successfully work with individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds 
  • Willingness to teach with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of professionalism, punctuality, and content relevance for diverse adult students 
  • Prior experience teaching / presenting in an online environment 
  • Legal authorization to work and receive compensation in the United States. These positions are not eligible for visa sponsorship. 

Desired Qualifications 

  • Prior teaching or mentoring experience, particularly with adult learners and/or in employee training programs
