Position Description
The University of Washington’s Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine, is seeking applicants for a faculty position to be based at Harborview Medical Center (HMC). This position will be at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank on the Clinical Practice track. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW’s Faculty Code Section 24-34. The earliest start date is February 1, 2025.
The position will include clinical care responsibilities in the Pioneer Square Clinics (multiple locations) and the Adult Medicine Clinic. These clinics often serve persons and groups who are considered at-risk or vulnerable and historically have faced challenges to engage in healthcare. The ambulatory care duties for this position will include primary patient care, resident and student supervision, and the option of inpatient attending on the medicine ward teaching service.
HMC is a county-owned hospital that is managed by the UW and is an Academic Center of Excellence. HMC is also the only Level I trauma center for the broader Pacific Northwest region and its mission is to provide and teach exemplary patient care for the regions’ most vulnerable populations. The position is eligible as part of the federal loan repayment plan.
University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. In addition to clinical work, teaching, scholarship, and service are integral to all Clinical Practice positions. The initial appointment period will be three years, at a minimum, with eligibility for renewal thereafter. Faculty on the Clinical Practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure. Only full-time positions (100% FTE) are eligible for H-1B and permanent residence sponsorship. Employer based permanent residence sponsorship is offered in the Clinical Practice track.
Salary
The base salary range for this position will be: $16,250 - $20,834 per month ($195,000 - $250,000 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Qualifications
Applicants must have an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent) and board certification* in Internal Medicine (or foreign equivalent). Applicants must hold or be eligible for Washington State Medical License.
Eligible candidates must have training, experience, and/or scholarship related to care of vulnerable patient populations.
*Note: Board certification in Internal Medicine must be completed within two years after residency.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
